Ivan Almasi-Goncalves 2025-2026 Articling Student

Ivan Almasi-Goncalves is the 2025-2026 Articling Student at Nadi Law. A mature candidate with more than four years of hands-on legal experience, Ivan brings a practical, client-centered approach and strong advocacy skills to our practice in employment and criminal law.

Ivan is completed his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. He also previously earned a Paralegal Accelerated Diploma from Seneca College and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science, with a concentration in Public Law, from Brock University.

Before law school, Ivan practiced as a licensed paralegal at NK Legal Services LLP, where he managed full client files from intake through to resolution. He conducted legal research and drafting, compiled evidence, and represented clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board and in Small Claims Court. In summer 2023, he served as a caseworker at Community Legal Services of Ottawa (CLSO), handling housing and ODSP matters, providing Tenant Duty Counsel support, and delivering compassionate legal advice to clients in vulnerable circumstances. These roles sharpened his skills in file management, negotiation, research, and client communication.

Ivan has further developed his oral advocacy through several mooting competitions, including the Davies Annual Corporate/Securities Law Moot, the uOttawa Family Law Negotiation Competition, and the Nelligan O’Brien Payne Moot Competition. He remains actively involved at the University of Ottawa as Vice President of Events for the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Club and previously served as an Assistant Editor for the Ottawa Law Review.

Fluent in English and with advanced proficiency in Portuguese, Ivan is passionate about accessible justice and is excited to support Nadi Law’s clients in employment and criminal matters. His practical background and dedication make him a strong addition to the team.
