Allyya Shahid

Allyya Shahid is an articling student at Nadi Law. She completed her JD at Osgoode Hall Law School. Allyya is interested in both criminal and employment law.

Prior to law school, she completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University, where she specialized in child health and graduated with distinction. As a student, Allyya researched mental and physical disabilities and developed an interest in how laws and policies impact a person’s life, including their health, social ties, and work.

Allyya followed this passion during her time in law school. She was a clinical law student at ARCH Disability Law Clinic. Here she supported the clinic in writing submissions for an Ontario Human Rights Commission consultation. Allyya also gave presentations on human rights in the workplace to community groups, advocating for the importance of creating safe and inclusive workplaces. Through her work at ARCH, Allyya came to appreciate how much of legal practice, and getting positive outcomes for clients, is predicated on having positive client relationships, building human connections, and actively listening to their stories.

In her free time, Allyya enjoys baking, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
